MX Blue Filco Tenkeyless blank keys or RK-9000

I'm in the US, so the RK-9000 is looking soo tempting because of it's cost and how much easier it is to get a hold of. But seeing the pictures and hearing the reviews of Filcos on this site are actually making me lean towards the Filco. I've also heard the costar makes BOTH keyboards, so I'm assuming there's very little difference in the build.

Also, am I dumb for wanting to try Blue Cherrys first? I've only ever tried Blacks at work, and I believe I want something that requires a little less force. I don't care how noisy it is, and may actually prefer more audible keyboards.

I wouldn't think you're crazy for trying blues first at all, they're absolutely wonderful to type on, and honesty not bad for gaming either. I'd go ahead and grab the Rosewill board, personally, the build quality is very good and you can always get a blank set of keycaps later if you just NEED a blank board. You're going to spend quite a bit more money buying a new Filco, at the moment.

I don't really like Blues anymore. They're absolutely wonderful when compared with rubber domes but compared with BS they feel like a cheap knock-off...

My first switches were Blues on the Das Keyboard. It was love at first sight. If you think the sound won't bother you, you're probably going to enjoy the blues quite a lot.

The choice between these two boards comes down to price and preference. If you think you need Tenkeyless, then go with the Filco. If not, then the Rosewill might be a better option because of the price.

I just didn't see any point in waiting or importing since I knew what I wanted and the Rosewill fit the bill perfectly for me.

I went for the Rosewill and here's why I did it: I was pretty sure I knew what I wanted and I got to a point where I could only read so much on forums like these, watch so many youtube typing videos, etc. before I just finally needed to get something to play with for a REAL frame of reference to work with.

Thanks to this place I felt confident that MX Blue was the way I wanted to go and I also felt confident about the Rosewill especially since I figured: If I really didn't like it I'd either return it within 30 days or sell it here with little to no loss.  

I have no plans to part ways with it.



The noise isn't bad at all unless you have some kind of rage and really pound the hell out of the keys.  I find the noise and feel to be a combination that's both strangely satisfying and addicting. The feel and tactile response for me is perfect.


FWIW: I have family members that wouldn't hesitate to complain if some noise bothered them and they have yet to say a peep about the keyboard. In fact, my sister is starting to consider getting one for herself.


I'll even go as far as saying that both my gaming and typing have improved since getting this keyboard coming off of an MS Natural Ergo 4000. I say this as someone who went in fairly skeptical.

As far as going tenkeyless, it's up to you: Do you ever use those num pad keys and what's your space situation? The Rosewill is 17.3 inches in width. A tenkeyless is going to come in around the 14 inch mark.

Yyyyyyoooooooo. That's harsh. I haven't spent much time with BS (about a week) but Blues are just different. For one thing, a click sound should be as crisp as Blues. A click that sounds more like a *thunk* makes no sense at all IMO...
