I make keycaps shine :(

I've always had a problem of making ABS keycaps shine quickly.. especially OEM caps (of course). I must have the worst body chemistry for touching ABS plastic because I made my Hyperfuse GMK set start to shine after only 1-2 weeks of use. It's not a significant shine (yet) but it's definitely starting to show some wear.

Does anyone else have this problem? I hate it Unless it's SA ABS (which actually looks good when shiney) I will just stick with PBT from now on.

I have the same problem. My Dolch GMK is shiny as hell. Is there a way to make the shine uniform to all keycaps? lol

Back in the days when all I have is keyboards with ABS keys, I develop a habit of washing my hand before long sessions of typing. And once in a while, after use, just use microfiber cloth or damped cloth to clean your whole keyboard.

Maybe the shine will still come eventually, but at least it helps prolong the life of the keys.

I think you can clean it with some alcohol cuz its a doubleshot

I have not had this problem. However, somehow I turned brocaps yellowish brown in spots. Probably because I'm so full of ****.

I'm not sure if I make them shine quicker than other people, but yeah, my caps do get shiny after a few weeks of heavy use. My TA spacebar is all kinds of shiny, for instance and I got that a month ago. If you ask me shine isn't bad. Shine means you use it, and they are meant to be used!

Gotta put a more positive spin on that...you just added your own character to the caps. Yeah, that sounds better!

I think it's some kind of combination of body chemistry, local climate, and use of hand lotions...

I've personally never had an issue with any of my sets shining noticeably on me, but I live in a super dry climate and never put anything on my hands.

Collect your sweat and apply them to the keycaps evenly and then rub it daily? /s

you should change your topic to I make keycaps shine
i think you should keep using your shined gmk keycaps.  many people, including me, find that they actually prefer shined gmk keycaps

U can't really avoid this since they are ABS caps...

even PBT's will start shining, its normal and I don't think its bad thing.
