MicroDox small ergonomic keyboard design.

So i'm still new to designing and building keyboards but one thing i want to have to have is a more portable keyboard for when i travel and or when i'm using a laptop. i like something slightly ergonomical and i do like the ErgoDox design so... *smashes them together* thoughts on this ? i call it MicroDox, its a stripped down version that is NOT detachable. more for being portable and small and such.

Looks cool, but do you think the thumb section is an improvement over the Atreus design?

Hmmm.... well after looking at it having the thumb space moved between the 2 halves would be slightly more ergonomic however would sacrifice alittle linear space. not saying its a bad idea tho. might have to prototype one or print out that layout and see how it kinda works in the real world. Also it would probably depending on how you type as well i'm used to the big flappy space bar so i tend to lean towards thump space bars more lower and detached.

More angle feels much better to me. Also more room for keys that would do???

That makes sense. If your thumb naturally falls there, you might even be able to make the thumb keys 1u or 1.25u and put a 1u adjacent to them (left of the left one and right of the right one). That way your thumb would only have to move a bit laterally and you get two extra keys with no wrist movement.

This is really appealing to me. My biggest issue with the ErgoDox was the vertical thumb buttons didn't account for the variances in where I hit the space bar (I need at least a 2x wide space bar otherwise I'm using extra muscles in my right hand that introduces pain).

I'd love to see this turn into a full fledged board, and would probably end up buying one.

Ideally you want to add tenting of 10–40° (depending on your preference).

For a single-piece all flat design, the ideal amount of horizontal rotation depends heavily on how far away from your body you place your keyboard.
