Hello!
« on: Tue, 13 October 2015, 10:12:00 »
Hello everyone, I'm from Singapore and had a friend introduce me to MKs a few months ago back in June, where I tried out his Dell AT101W with complicated black alps and Poker 2 with MX Blue switches ( Though I'm not really a fan of MX blues, I can see the appeal it would have to some ). Prior to that I had a Corsair K70 with MX reds, though I wasn't into the whole MK thing yet. Sadly being in Asia the MK supply here isn't very large and shipping costs a ton! But I still try to hunt for more stuff to try out.

After using the K70 I've been through several other boards, namely:
CM Quick Fire Pro ( MX Reds )
Ducky DK2087 ( MX Reds )
Realforce 86U ( Topres )

Yeah at that point after using a couple more boards with MX Reds I figured it wasn't really my thing. Coincidentally I found a used Realforce 86U for $110 so I picked it up and have been loving it so far, and I've been using it as my daily driver along with my K70 which I've been using for gaming. Next I'm looking towards a TKL board with MX Clears as I find Browns too light, also because I bought a set of Blank Blue/Grey PBT caps from Ducky through MD, then realised I don't have a keyboard to put it on :p . I am also starting to get a little interest in artisans, though I've yet to get anything of the sort.

So hopefully I'll be seeing more of you guys as I interact with the community!

Welcome to Geekhack!

That's an excellent price for the RealForce!

Clears are great - if you like browns but want them a bit stiffer, clears are the way to go.  The tactile bump is also more noticable on clears.

As for artisans, have patience.  Keep an eye on vendor sale threads, enter as many sales as takes your interest, and above all don't be discouraged if it takes you a few sales before you are successful :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Welcome! I go to Singapore quite often to visit the missus. I found the keyboard game to be quite expensive over there though
