HP blank keys iso at Ikea
« on: Sun, 18 October 2015, 18:26:09 »
So im here at Ikea and they have these non-functional hp keyboards that are probably rubber dome, but with these nice fully blank keycaps.  Anyone know anything about these boards?

So i found one with a spacebar that someone mangle and they have some sort of witch-like pice on top of the rubber membrane.  Its not a design that i recognize from what ive seen, but the spacebar had a rectangular protrusion like something that i have seen on here.  These non-functional keybaords may be worth harvesting lkeycaps from since they are a very nice gray  that is if they can fit on other switches.

I think you need to sneak a keypuller in and get some pics :))

Could be slider over rubber dome.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

On that one where the spacebar came off I could see it pretty clearly.  And...
Could be slider over rubber dome.  I didn't have the ability to take a pic and post it. :(
...it looked exactly like this--a slider over a what looked like a keytronic-style rubber dome--same color and look as I've seen in a thread on here.

Someone with a keypuller should go to ikea and get the full scoop on them.  Looks like the keys may be compatible with another switch.
