Replacing my QFR — need recs
« on: Sat, 17 October 2015, 09:33:12 »
Hi guys,

I'll cut to the chase. I'm looking for a setup with the following requirements:
- tactile/clicky switches with low actuation force (Cherry MX Blue or Brown are ok but I'm open to other switch brands/models/types)
- tenkeyless
- backlit (red or dual/multi color)
- ISO layout
- standard keycap sizes (i.e. NOT QuickFire TK)

Optional preferences:
- clean and minimalistic (no logos, no media buttons and none of that "gamer" design like Razer or Logitech)
- USB ports and a headphone jack would be nice though
- no Cherry stabilizers
- hardware configurable key output like WASDv2's (I'm only interested in Colemak though)
- N-key rollover, 1000hz report rate and all that jazz...

And I'm looking for a numeric keypad to match (to put on the left side of the keyboard). Obviously, I'm not expecting the exact same characteristics but the closer, the better.

Also, what's the latest development on keycaps? Is PBT still "the best"?
And what caps do I need to get so they look like this ESC key? (i.e., lets the backlight through but opaque enough that you can't see the internals)

Thanks.

You can try to find a Ducky Shine 4 with ISO layout and tenkeyless. Without backlighting, you can try to find a Filco

There's no Shine 4 TKL—not even announced. And no backlighting is not an option, otherwise I'd just pick up a WASDv2.
