Hello friends!
« on: Thu, 05 November 2015, 10:53:20 »
I hope you find this post well today!

My account is pretty barren but I visit here everyday at work and home so I wanted to allow myself to formally introduce myself.. My name is Braxton - Title Insurance provider by day - keyboard enthusiast by night. I find that, even on forums, I listen (or read:P) wayy more than I talk. This is especially the case with Geekhack, as there are so many knowledgeable and resourceful users here that are quick to help or encourage that it usually seems difficult to find where my opinion or input would even be useful! I plan to contribute where I can anyway and look forward to meaningful discussion with a community I've really come to enjoy over the past year or so.

I got my first mech a little over two years ago, a white CM TK with mx reds and since have used a DS3 w/ blues, Rosewill RK9000w/blues, ducky zero tkl blacks, k70 with clears, CM TK mx greens, APC F-21 black alps over membrane, Model M, Dell AT101w comp. blacks and along the way acquired and built a few endgame mx boards including the Orion V2 (which just came in:D) Once I have my orion the way I want it, I plan to do a small photo shoot to share my daily drivers with you guys n gals.

Not here for the artisans:D

Hi there! Thanks for introducing yourself :3 I know a lot of people feel the same way as you in regard to lurking and posting, but it really is a whole lot of fun sharing your ideas, keyboards, and opinions on all the ongoing threads. The more you do it, the harder it is to stop!  :))

Looks like you've been through quite a few keyboards. Nice pick-up on the Orion  :thumb: can't wait to see what you end up doing with it.

And damn, pretty refreshing to see someone here just in it for the keyboards. I'm still in the experimental stage of trying out different switch types but I caught the artisan bug along the way and it's eating me up from the inside. Definitely gonna slow down and focus on my boards  :p thanks for reminding me.

Hey mobbo!

I look forward to sharing my experiences, photos and ideas with everyone here:P

I think I've tried just about every mx variant apart from greetech and kail-h.. I'm not very interested in these but I heard that someone was trying to spread the greetech gospel- so maybe soon ;D For now, I am ecstatic to be putting the new zealios on the orion and to try out more alps switches and hopefully settle the details on the alps custom I want to put together!

Although I really like the designs of some artisans, my focus in this hobby has always had some emphasis on practicality and apart from looking cool, most artisans don't serve much purpose functionally. In due time, I can think of some artisans that would accent my builds nicely but the ones I'm partial to seem to be rare and/or expensive :'( Not a priority at this point anyway:D

Hey man welcome.  Nice collection, and I'm excited for you getting your Orion.  I've had my eye on those for a while.  Can't wait to see your photo shoot!

About where in Florida do you live?

Welcome to Geekhack!

That's quite an impress list of keyboards you have/tried.

With experience of all those keyboards though, you are more than welcome to post your impression and/or comparison in various threads asking what the difference is between keyboard/switch X and Y.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
