Hello from Berkeley~!
« on: Tue, 10 November 2015, 17:49:43 »
Well, I guess the thing to do as a newbie here is to post this  :D

I'm pretty active on /r/MK, and I decided it was time to make my way over to Geekhack. I got my first mech when Razer released their Ultimate with the green switches. Although a cheap board, I must say the switches were pretty fantastic. I sold that a few months ago, bought a Model M, and I just recently bought a V60 Mini with blues, and gosh, I am LOVING that board.

I joined the community because I'm planning on learning how to build my own keyboard this upcoming summer after my school year is over!

Welcome! I am new here myself but wanted to say hi to a relatively local member (I am from Sacramento). I have a feeling that our wallets are going to be regretting the decision to join GH relatively soon...

Nice! I'm actually from Stockton, so I'm fairly close! But currently a student over at Cal.

And yes, my wallet is already in pain. My housemate just offered to sell me his Poker II..... the temptation is real right now.

Welcome to Geekhack!

The temptations will come fast enough by themselves without people offering you more keyboards :))
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Welcome! I'm local to you and wanted to say "hi!" There's a monthly SF Bay Area meetup that Haata organizes, have you had a chance to go to any of them? I haven't but am hoping to attend the next one. I hear it's pretty fun!
