Amazon has the ZT 0450 for $124.90 $136.06 Prime on Amazon, but they wont ship until Nov. 18th.   Usually sales for around $164.   Not sure how long they will keep it at this price.

I own one of these and love it.

I'm not familiar with CA knife laws, but it's not a automatic, or assisted so I don't see why it wouldn't be.

Just curious: What do you use something like this for? Or do you just take it out and fondle it now and then? I mean, is it something you actually wield for some reason (e.g. getting home through bad neighborhoods, winning TV whittling challenges, etc.), or is it more of a decorative thing? Or does it simply fulfill a desire to have some really sharp-edged titanium around the house?

Oh, and cool HM avatar too, dude.

A knife is the most useful tool one can carry, and this ZT is gorgeous.

That said, a mid-size gentleman's folder would probably be more suited for everyday tasks, and IMHO for self-defense purposes a knife is the wrong tool.

I have been carrying,  and collecting knives for years. My grandfather used to sell them.

Like nephiel said, they can come in handy for all types of things, and could be used for selfdefense if need be.

Also, they are fun to take out and fondle. Most people that have handled a knife like this would agree.

Thanks for noticing the HB ghost avatar   ;)

Tools, opening boxes, notching wood, normal stuff, and some people just collect because they like knives.

This is the primary function of all my knives :))

I got a ZT 0562 as a gift a few months ago and it's an impressive little tool. Opens lightning fast, but it's not spring assisted.

My ZT 0350 is on my pocket right now. In the office. I use it for cutting open boxes, a few things from my lunch, a piece of twine that was wrapped around my tire, and a FedEx envelope that I couldn't get my finger into. All today.

Yes you can use a cheaper knife to do that. I like quality, and so I prefer to carry a quality knife rather than some crappy one.

Many say that the quality blades keep their edge longer, maybe so.

My ZT and my Benchmades are made so well I can't imagine ever having any problems with them. My only Spyderco gave up the ghost long ago and my Buck stopped locking properly (very dangerous).
I'm back.

I carry the same knife. It's a pain in the butt to sharpen if you don't have the proper utensils, but it definitely holds an edge longer than my Kershaw knives I have that are made out of a softer steel.

I carry a knife everyday and can honestly say that a knife should be used as your LAST defense against someone.

Bringing a knife to a fight pretty much means that 1 person, or neither of you is walking out alive.

Edit: here's a relevant video!

Well, this makes me wonder how I've ever gotten by not carrying a knife around with me.

About the self-defense thing, though—where do you guys live that you need to consider such a thing? Detroit? East L.A.?

And can't you get in big trouble for carrying a concealed weapon? Isn't it actually, you know, against the law? Or is that just guns? You're not advocating illegal activities here, are you? Just wondering.

Pulling a knife in a fight is a bad idea.  They do not make good self-defense weapons.  If I ever got in a fight, I would never pull my knife.  If I'm winning, great.  If I'm losing, I'll just lose (not worth risking it getting turned on me, and I don't want to kill someone).  If the other guy pulls a knife, I'll run.  If the other guy pulls a gun, I'm done.

You guys actually get in situations like this?? I thought GH was full of shy, intellectual keyboard geeks—but under the surface, it's more like some kind of MMA/survivalist forum. Guess I'd better start showing more respect around here. I think I'll also decline to attend any meets that aren't in well-lighted public places.  :?O

This is Murica. It doesn't matter where you live. Some people just prefer to carry a pocket knife.

Almost all states allow pocket knives to be carried.  Infact the only place I've heard about people getting their knives confiscated is in NYC.  Now when it comes to automatic knives, that can be a whole different story.

No I'm a weak geek. But with a knife. But it's one I won't use on someone else.  Mostly.  Now I might use a model M for self-defense...

Well, this makes me wonder how I've ever gotten by not carrying a knife around with me.

I looked up some CA knife laws since this was posted and this is what I arrived at. Knifes which are are assisted  (not butterfly knife, switch blades, or spring loaded) legal in most places. Blade size doesn't matter with the exception of L.A. It's not against the law and if you were indeed concealed carrying it, a cop would have no reason to see it unless you were involved in some sort of crime or run in with the police.

I am a geek! But I still carry a knife and don't live in the best part of town. That said, I would never use the knife as self-defense. If I saw someone pull a knife in a fight, I am most definitely running or deescalating the situation. There are people who are skilled in knife fighting and self-defense who say they rather have someone pull a gun on them in a fight then a knife.

It's more for EDC (everyday carry) such as opening mail (cutting all the envelopes of artisans, mech related stuff, etc. i get :D ), working on my car, cutting/depressing boxes etc.
