Costar Stabilizer Keyboards-TKL or 60%, if available
« on: Thu, 26 June 2014, 11:13:52 »
Just wanna know what different manufacturers there are for costar stabilizers, as I'm looking at TKL or 60% currently. Mx Reds only.

Filco
WASD
Coolermaster
Rosewill?

There are no costar makers for 60% keyboards right?

Not sure whar you mean by that. You can use a USB to PS2 adapter on other keyboards, too.

passive usb-ps/2 adapters wouldn't work on usb-only keyboards. unless you know of any usb to ps/2 adapters?

KBT Pure and Poker X have PS/2 protocol also, but they're hard to find nowadays since they're not made any more.

May I ask why Costar stabs? If it's just about the "mushy" bottom out feel of Cherry stabs, you can clip them and then they feel as good if not better than Costar. Plus they're less fiddly when replacing caps.

If you MUST have Costar stabs, for TKL you have a few choices, Filco MJ2, CMStorm QFR, etc.

For 60%... not so much. There's only the MiniLa. But it has a very odd layout and not so good keycaps, which means you can't replace them and are stuck with the stock thin ABS caps.

If you want to go 60%, don't worry about the stabiliser type, just clip the Cherry ones and enjoy. Ditto for the PS/2 support, unless you have a very specific reason for needing it.
Buying more keycaps,
it really hacks my wallet,
but I must have them.

Hmm...odd... looks like the server may have been rolled back yesterday? A few posts disappeared!

Anyhow, I was bumping this to see if there were any new 60-80% boards on the market that use costar stabilizers.

Thanks!

KC60 use costar stabs.

Thanks, I'll keep an eye out for when these are available again. Sadly it looks like they are having issues with the drop as well :(
