I'm Garfi3ld and I'm a little crazy
« on: Mon, 04 January 2016, 01:50:38 »
I've been lurking around for a while and recently have been posting up. I've been into mechs for years now. Recently I have been thinning things out but even thinned out I have more mechs than any one person should ever own (somewhere around 32 right now). So I just wanted to drop in and say hello. Nice to meet you all

A belated welcome to Geekhack, considering that you joined nearly three years ago!

32 keyboards is a nice round number :D

I'd guess you have fairly significant experience of different layouts and switches.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Do you hate mondays?

Do you have a lasagna themed keyboard?

Are any of your keyboards aluminum?

I hate most days but mondays are good because its my wifes day off and we get to hang out.

I actually don't like lasagna

Aluminum? Well I have a pok3r, a Cherry MX Board 6.0, and an Infinity in a Vortex aluminum case as well. I might have more but that's what I can think of off the top of my head

Nice! January is nice to me, I end up with Mondays off and I only work 4-day weeks (except this one).

I do not like any lasagna with ricotta cheese, so I can share the sentiment

very nice. good to see ya around :)

Some great boards in there.  :thumb: My wife would murder me if I had even half of what you do. How do you rotate that many boards? I hope you have a HHKB somewhere in there as well.

Honestly I end up using just a few, namely the poker 2 for LANs or the Rapid-I with the orange Cherry replicas. Then on my main desk the full sized code. The others get used every great once in awhile but not enough to justify them :X. As for a HHKB, I really didn't like the layout when I used one but I have still have thought about getting one. I know it's not the popular opinion but I also prefer to have backlighting most of the time because I work in my office at night and I spend a lot of time at LANs where its dark.
