New but not new!
« on: Wed, 30 December 2015, 14:28:02 »
I had to ween myself off of GH about a year ago, as I was spending money that I really could't afford to be spending. Struggling to find enough work as a graphic designer while also going to school full time. Sold off all of my keyboard stuff besides my trusty Filco Majestouch 1.

Started an unpaid internship in IT in May, and eventually took over a role in the communications department when someone left unexpectedly as a paid intern. Now employed by the gubment as a creative designer & web specialist!  ;D

Still watching my wallet, but I should at least be able to indulge a little bit!

Happy to see all these new artisan keys!! Maybe I will finally be able to own some!

Given that you joined a couple of years before me, it seems silly, but (belated) welcome to Geekhack!

Lots of changes around here since then.  Some for the good, some not so.

Have you seen this thread?  A few good thoughts about keyboard addiction and so on.

Congratulations on getting a proper job :D
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
