What's the real deal about the Fujitsu Peerless?

I'm always seeing hints about it here and there, but I've never seen any real reviews or actual descriptions of them.

I've seen snarky comments both ways in terms of their feel...good and bad.  Judging by Webwit's comment there, it seems he thinks they aren't that great. What kind of switches does it use?

Some kind of 'rubber dome with springs' system. Despite the similar sounding premise, they have little in common with the Topres.

The Peerless has a very suprising keyfeel, hence the name "Peerless."  Fujitsu makes the Peerless and the HHKB, so it has to be good, right?

I only heard the name "Peerless" in this group. But I believe they're talking about the Fujitsu keyboard which has a special place in my heart - because, even if its feel is nothing special for a rubber dome, along with the Keytronic keyboards, it was one of the few early rubber domes that had the standard 101 U.S. layout instead of the imitation AT layout that was so popular at the start.

Maybe the comments are because people bought those while they could still have bought a real Model M from Lexmark.

From all reports, the Peerless had/has one of the worst keyfeels of all time. See here.  I'm sure webwit could expand on that as well.

I have a Peerless board, a Fujitsu FKB4725-501. It has an incredibly stiff travel, with a light click, and a tactile bump closer to the bottom than the top. The form factor is Model-M-ish, and is fairly heavy.

I used it for a long time, but no more. In my opinion, it beats the average rubber dome board, but is much too stiff for my taste.
