Hi, there fellow maniacs my first post here so i'm not really sure that the main forum is the best place to post this, but... anyway

First and foremost i am not a native english spreaker, so if I use some funny words to descibe things don't mind me please.
I recently found my old Steel keys (steelseries) 6g in the back of my coupboard. I was using it back then when it came out.
I remember that i broke the spacebar holding "thingie" and also some of the bigger keys such as the numpad enter key holder and both of the shift key holder. (It had theese little metal clamps or, distance holders (what do you call them).
The base of the board and the switches are in mint condition, and function properly, but those broken distance holders make the typing experience so bad, like it's unusable. Can't even hit the spacebar unless you hit the exact middle of it.
Recently i bought a DAS keyboard 4 Professional and found out, custom keycaps are a thing (moved away from mechanical keyboards for years because reasons, but now i'm back and i hope i can make it a double return). My question is, if i purchase a full set of cherry mx compatible keycaps, can i use them for my good old steelkeys 6g to recover it, or the keyboard uses some wierd old keycap mechanics (if this is even a thing lol), that makes it incompatible with modern day keycaps. Thanks for the answers guys!  :)

tl;dr: found and old steelkeys 6g with broken keycaps/distance holders. Can i use cherry compatible keycaps to recover my old friend?
