Purchasing a Ducky One TKL - MX Blacks or Reds?
« on: Fri, 01 April 2016, 11:08:57 »
Having a difficult time to decide... need a switch that is nice for double taps on spacebar... I'm getting the Ducky One but can't decide between black or red. I have a heavy hand somewhat. I've used both black and red switches before and like both.... I'm considering going back to black, wouldn't a heavier spring result in faster double taps since the keys rebound faster?

Also is the build quality good on the One's?

I have a (only made in white case/chassi and 2015 ex)  Ducky One RGB YOTG, Cherry MX Black and it is a good build quality.

The case/chassi is lookin better than the Shine 4/5 RGB "Bigfoot" cases/chassies.

With Jukebox SA keycaps set, the 2 orange pumpkins don't belong to the Jukebox SA set:

With Miami (104) keycaps set and 4 pumpkins caps.

EDIT: I got a keycap puller with the Ducky board and there was a keycap puller in boxes of my Shine 3/4 boards.

I have some of Duckys keycaps sets and there is a keycap puller in the boxes.

Cool pics dude.

So with my Ducky One TKL, later down the line... will I be able to buy new keycap sets or new keys if I wanna mod it up and make it look fancy? :P

Ducky usually (always?) make boards with standard layouts and the One definitely is, so you should be good to buy any keycaps when (not if :p) the time comes - if it's ANSI the standard base kit should have everything you need.

Blacks.  I have fairly strong hands, not exactly heavy-handed.  Reds are way too light for me now, although I did like them when I first tried them.  But I now have a definite preference for blacks over reds.

I also tend to bottom out on almost everything, including BS and clears.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Ducky Shine 3/4/5 RGB, Ducky One/RGB YOTG have a standard bottom row (Ctrl, Win, Alt, FN/Menu = 1x1.25 and the Spacebar = 1x6.25).

You can take a look here:
http://www.maxkeyboard.com/mechanical-keycap-layout-and-size-chart.html

Ducky, Das, Deck, WASD  + the Max Blackbird TKL  in the link have a standard bottom row.

Is it  ISO/UK or ANSI layout?

Here in sweden we use the ISO/Nordic layout but it is a hell to find good lookin keycaps sets, only one shop sellin some ISO/Nordic keycaps sets from WASD + one red Ducky keycaps set.

That's why I'm usin ANSI k-boards.
