I still think it should just be abolished entirely, along with timezones. The Earth's rotation is at the same point no matter what number you slap on it, if we all used a single reference point like GMT/UTC and never changed it due to stupid nonsense like DST, everyone would always be on the same page and nobody would ever have to worry about resetting clocks and screwing up sleep patterns. It's archaic, ignorant, and asinine.

So, you want to abolish time zones; or, Can I call my Uncle Steve?

That entire "explanation" seems to have been written by someone who doesn't have the good sense to just ask his relative what are good times to call where he lives. "I'm reachable between 0100-1100" would have saved him all the effort writing, and the cost of a webhost.

Yeah.  That's like calling your uncle and finding out he works night shift - you should have known that!

Also, the author over-simplifies the "easy" case and over-complicates the "hard" case.  If finding out what time it is in Melbourne with time zones is as easy as googling it, why isn't it equally as easy to find out where the sun is at a given moment (instead of hunting down a webcam  )?  Surely there would be a resource for answering the question "Are most people in this city awake at this time?", no?  The outlined example is really only relevant for the first week of this change, until someone decides "Hey!  I should make a tool to help people out!"
