how to easily put a (unicomp) buckling spring back in place
« on: Thu, 31 March 2016, 17:55:31 »
3 of my unicomp springs (ultra classic if that matters) are unseated (if that's the correct word). I've been trying to put them back in place manually (and with a tiny screwdriver), but with no luck.... and the only time one of them I managed to (partly ?) screw one of them in, putting the keycap had no effect (I've read that sometimes several attempts are needed before it fits) but to actually unseat the spring again.....any tips on how to do this are more than welcome...just spent one hour trying to do this to no avail....if it can be done with basic tools or no tools at all, thanks for letting me know, and if you got links to tutorials on geehacks or elsewhere to help me with this, they're more than welcome too! Thanks in advance.

Define "unseated".   The spring came out of the barrel?

Sandy's chopstick o' death method is the common approach.

Yes, it was out of the barrel. I've tried the chopstick of death, it worked fine, thanks.
