All the switches themselves are the same shape/size/mount in regard to the rows. The most common switch types that people sell and make caps for are: Cherry-MX, Topre, and Alps (this is in order of most to least common). Its the key cap profiles that are different for each row.
Don't feel dumb, it is kinda silly to abbreviate something like "round 2" into a commonly used keycap specific "row 2". One might think that with a typing related enthusiast group it is also silly to not want to type out the whole word.
