[Help] Android Nexus 6P won't MTP transfer
« on: Mon, 22 August 2016, 17:28:07 »
Hopefully this is the best place to post this if not feel free to move it!

Non-important Backstory

So I've been having this issue since the device came out and have been transferring music via Dropbox for awhile now but am finally tired of it and decided to and get it working again today.

Start of Issue & Description

I've never been able to MTP file transfer on my Nexus 6P since I've owned it (I believe it worked on another computer but don't have any around to test it on anymore).  For awhile in Device Manager it just said "MTP Device !" (!=Warning/Error sign) until I finally got the drivers through Android Studio.  Also in Devices and Printers it shows "Unspecified Device" (which was not resolved and still shows that)

Steps Taken
* Today I spent about 3 hours trying everything I could find on Google to no avail, here's what I've tried:
* Turning on debug mode
* Making sure it's on MTP (File transfer) mode
* Downloading the drivers from google
* Using Huawei's "HiSuite" (This actually did work to allow me to see my device in HiSuite, I could see my pictures/contacts/everything however it does not have a file explorer or a Music tab for whatever reason)
* Downloading Google's drivers through Android Studio/SDK Manager
* Using Android/Android Composite ADB Interface install manually through Device Manager

I think I've covered everything that's wrong, and what I've done to fix it, hopefully I didn't forget anything.
At this point I think it's a computer issue rather than an Android issue but all other USB devices work with no problem so I know the issue is specific to the 6P.

The only other thing I saw but wasn't able to fix is somewhere I saw some mention about Windows Media Player having something to do with Windows MTP and I do not have WMP and was not able to figure out how to get it on my computer as everything just says it comes with Win10 upgrades.  I tried adding it through the Windows Features menu but there is no Media option in there.
