Poker 3 Led Help
« on: Tue, 19 April 2016, 04:47:46 »
Hi,
I'm a new member trying to buy my first Mechanical keyboard any help is appreciated.

I want to buy a backlit poker 3, however looking at videos online and pictures, it doesn't seem like the Capslock light will be on permanently, it'll only be on when Capslock is on. Is there anyway to keep it on permanently?

second, is there anyway to keep it on permanently WHILE using it as a FN key?

Thanks

EDIT: Can someone please confirm that when the dip switch #3 is on, the capslock light is permanently on? I asked a vendor this and they told me it will stay on.

Yes, dip switch 3 will make it a "FN" key

FN+X will change the backlight modes (one of these modes is all keys backlit at all times including your caps/function key)
FN + C or V will change the level of light

I was not impressed with LED's on the Poker 3.  The V60 I thought had a better lighting.  If you like the Poker 3 you may want to sacrifice the LED version and get one with PBT plastic keycaps.  It has a better typing feel, but this is my opinion.  You have to decide whats most important to you.

What's particularly off with the leds on the pok3r?

Can you please turn the dip switch #3 on for me and check if the capslock light is permanently on? thanks!

There is a lot of backlighting leaking underneath the keys which I didn't like.  I also like the font, contrast, and visibility of the characters that are lit better on the V60.  Also the Poker lighting is white if I recall (I haven't used it in a couple months).  The v60 has a choice of two colors- red and blue or green and blue if I recall.  I like this colored light better than the white light.

The steel plate on the Poker is white (looks like Apple, I hate it) to reflect a lot of this light from underneath.  The steel plate on the V60 is black so there is almost no glow from under the keys.  This is course is all my preference.  It's a matter the effect you like and features you want.  I've heard people complain that the paint has chipped off the steel case of the Poker.  The Poker is considerably heavier than the V60 because of the steel case.  This is nice because it stays put, but some people may prefer a lighter keyboard.  The V60 has a plastic case.

You can see this illumination effect in this image.
