IBM model-F XT OSX layout, and question about soarer binding
« on: Wed, 13 April 2016, 19:35:32 »
I finally got to replace my IBM model F foam mat! (Thanks Chris)
After a few setbacks I managed to close is all (don't try to close it while the keys are on...)

I used a new layout (see picture below). Works quite well. (The <>5 keys on the right are for volume up/down and mute, the underscore keys
to the right of the shift are apple/cmd keys). The F10 key on the right adds 10 to the Function keys, so F1 becomes F11, F2 F12, and so on,
except that F9 becomes F10.
 Here is the layout.

I have one question: The two PrtSc* keys on the right are supposed to be "mission control" and "launchpad", those that on the
macbook air are on the F3 and F4 keys. But I haven't managed to reproduce these keys using soarer...

Does anyone know soarer bindings to get "mission control" and "launchpad" in OSX?

Thanks!

Answering my own question... I still didn't figure out what codes are used by OSX for launchpad and mission control, but I was complicating things too much.

All you need to do is assign shortcuts for them, and then trigger these shortcuts with a macroblock. Now all works well, I have mission control and launchpad
on my keyboard!

(Of course it would have been much nicer to have real labels for my keys... mute, vol+/- bigger keys for page up/down, etc... that will maybe come later)

Just one more update, I promise...
I got some keys from Unicomp. Great support! Now the keyboard looks slightly better.
The 'PrtSc *' keys are currently bound to 'mission control', and 'rotate screen'.
I would have preferred the page up/down keys to be 2 wide, instead of what they are, but it seems 2 wide keys now have two stems,
and not a single central one. I guess it is because they are just one long key you can hit anywhere, instead of the nice wide keys
with an elevated centre that you have to hit in the centre, like the model-F had.

Anyway, I'm happy!
