Keyboard with touchpad?
« on: Fri, 25 August 2017, 12:10:47 »
Hey everyone, are there any mechanical keyboards in form faktor <= TKL with some sort of mouse feature (touchpad/trackball or something similar) ?
Preferably wireless because it would be used with a HTPC. But could also be wired in case a usb -> bluetooth adapter does exist. Doesn't have to be a finished product, building something could be fun...
I'm not quite sure yet if i really need that (because $$$) or if i can live with my Logitech K400 ;D Just interested to know if something like that even exists because i have never seen something like that.

Some off the top of my head:

Tex Yoda: 60% with trackpoint. Wired. Cherry MX.

Cherry G80-11900. Cherry MX Black. Wired. Technicaly not a TKL because it has all keys but the keypad is above the trackpad. A bit plasticky, loud and not so compact but it should be possible to acquire a used one with high-quality keycaps in German layout on German eBay for less than 20 € if you set up a subscription and get lucky.
The G80-11800 is an older version with trackball instead.

Combine with a Bluetooth mouse:
Varmilo VB87M is the only TKL wireless Bluetooth keyboard I know of, and AFAIK it has been available only in US-ANSI layout but I may be wrong.
Anne Pro is 60% wireless Bluetooth - should be available in ISO now or "soon" according to the manufacturer.

Search also for "lapboard" and "lapdog".

Other than that, wireless mechanical keyboards are unusual.

Thanks.
Yeah i noticed that there are not so many wireless mechanical keyboards available. I'm wondering why that is. For HTPC use case it would be impracticable to have a cable all the way from the tv rack to the couch. Either it's wireless or there should be a way to plug it in near the couch and transmit it wirelessly via some sort of adapter from there.
The Tex Yoda looks interesting ^^. But also expensive. Anne Pro would be worth a thought. Already planning on getting a Logitech MX Master 2S mouse for my desk which is near my tv area, would be super easy to use it for both and it would supposedly even work on my glass couch table.
I don't really care about ISO or ANSI. Started transitioning to ANSI-US because of my Magicforce 68 for use on the go in university/work, i even seem to prefer it over ISO-DE.
