Anyone know if Geekeys black PBT are the same as these?
Why the hell are blank PBT so expensive on GK? It's almost the price of dyesub for a blank keycap. I don't get it.
Chances are Taobao will have the cheaper price as well. To answer you question directly Aliexpress and Taobao merchants usually operate in the same continent as the manufacturer (NPKC/EnjoyPBT/Gateron = Taiwan?) so all the intercontinental shipping fees don't apply to the sales price shown by the merchant. This is just my assumption as I have no idea whether Geekkeys operates out of the states or not. Their USD prices sway my opinion that they are in the USA but I can't find an address for GK like I can for Unicomp or Mechanicalkeyboards.com. GK could be a Candian company, I have no idea. Just be aware that a lot of Aliexpress and Taobao merchants/vendors will list items in USD/English but that doesn't necessarily mean they're operating out of the states. The Aliexpress link, for example, is listed by someone operating out of China

I'm taking a few generalizing liberties with the post. Geekkeys provides very little information to the consumer and that is kind of lame. But, if you were to compare prices between Aliexpress/Taobao and a company/warehouse/storefront like Mechanicalkeyboards.com you might get a better picture of why there is a discrepancy between prices.
Mechanicalkeyboards.com - Blank Black PBT Keycaps - 120 Keycaps (Gateron)Seems as though interest has dropped for those keycaps but you can see the listing price was $49 ($39 atm of this post). So it was $49 for the set + 2-7 day free shipping. Or three-day shipping for $3.60 via my FL estimate. Maybe mechanicalkeyboards.com are able to offer lower prices because they're actually a toy store (Tiger Imports) that deal is crazy bulk? I can't say for sure. Sorry for the long post
