Hello GH
« on: Tue, 23 August 2016, 14:28:24 »
Hi, I'm italian and I discovered mechs thanks to 4chins.
My passion for this hobby grew reading r/mk... And the months spent in Tokyo convinced me to embrace this money black hole (I also attended the first meetup that Apolotary held there).

I slowly became more familiar with the whole community and then finally started reading the topics in this forum.
Today I decided that it was about time to introduce myself.

For what regards hardware I am still mechless... I actually bought one novatouch but my father needed that more than me.
I am now preparing for a small custom build (40%+) or a golbat. I'm also interested in the fc660 design (a clueboard could be a future target).
Speaking of switches, I love clears. Still, I'd like to try out some zealios.

Ok, I've said even too much, see you around :)

PS: please excuse my english, I usually make tons of mistakes, feel free to correct me

Welcome to Geekhack!

An FC660M with MX clears would be a great keyboard!  Or you could make one yourself, as long as you have a little experience in soldering.

There is the JD40, which was designed by our own Jade Carpe ;) available from TechKeys: http://techkeys.us/collections/accessories/products/jd40

I haven't heard anything bad about Zealios yet.  I'd really like to try them myself as an alternative to MX clears, although I do like my MX clears.  Maybe one day, if I ever get around to building a keyboard ...
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I tried to buy 50 zelios with the current GB... But after the 30$ for the shipment and the italian customs I would have paid more than 1.50€ for each switch. I guess I'll stick to clears at 0.65 €.
