Fujitsu Libertouch Vendor in USA?
« on: Tue, 05 January 2010, 22:24:15 »
Does anyone know of a U.S. vendor for Fujitsu Libertouch keyboards?  I would like to experience oneness with tri-cup rubber.  (variable resistance rubber cups)

US layout with proper enter key a necessity.

Don't quote me on this, but I believe majestouch said he does orders from diatech every so often (or he did 3-4 months ago). They sell libertouches and the replacement domes

this. i've been curious about these boards as well. Why spend 200 bucks just so you can change the cup rubber on the rubber cup? There's got to be something more to these boards, other than high-quality parts, of course.

I've always liked the libertouch logo though... classy.

I thought they were cheaper than that, more comparable to a Filco.  But be careful of overseas sources or you might get an L shaped Enter key.

I had also heard that they were in the Filco price region... But from what people have said of them, I'd rather save money and get a Topre.

Yeah, I guess it is more like filco. I'm not the best hand at converting yen in my head :(

My question still stands, though.

I've been wondering about those boards as well but considering some of the things I've read about them I've decided to let someone else be the first geekhack buyer :) If someone does bite the bullet and get one please do post a review of it.

Also the price for one is 17,800 Yen or $192 USD at today's exchange rate plus you will have to pay for shipping which adds another $50 or so to the price.

As someone else said at that price point I would prefer to get another Topre instead.
Keyboards
Topre Capacitive: Realforce 87U, Realforce 86U, HHKB Pro 2, Topre MD01B0, Topre HE0100, Sun Short Type, OEM NEO CS (x2), NISSHO Electronics KB106DE

Cherry Brown: Filco FKBN87M/EB, Compaq MX11800
Black Alps: ABS M1
Not so great boards Rare Spring over dome OKI, Sun rack keyboard

Trackballs - Trackman Wheel (3), Trackman marble (2)
Keyboards I still want to get - Happy Hacking Keyboard Pro 2 the White version, Realforce 23U number pad in black and maybe white, μTRON ergo board with Topre switches.
Previously owned - SiiG MiniTouch (White Alps), Scorpius M10 (Blue Cherry), IBM Model M13

I tried one out for a while today. I assume it has switches similar to the Realforce? The feel was nearly identical but I actually liked the Libertouch better. Also, as quiet as the Realforce is, it still seemed to have some minor noise when typing, either from the keys laterally wiggling a hair or from bottoming out. The Libertouch was whisper quiet. If the Realforce has a soft "thock" then the Libertouch was more of a soft "bmmf".
