Hi there,
new guy, 27yo, Data Scientist from Germany. I have been using my Steelkeys 6G (the old model with MX Black) for about 8 years now. I also own a Cherry MX-Board 3.0 with MX Brown for work.
After having switched my cheap keycaps (with DS PBTs from Tai-Hao) I got so hooked on all the mechanical keyboard stuff that I recently decided to build a custom 60% ISO-DE (oh yes!) board on my own.
Currently I am ordering all the parts needed, which I guess is the main task (at least if you live outside the US), since basically everything ships from overseas and various group buys, shops and locations.
Plan:
Part: Detail (origin, status)
Case: iQunix Lambo 60% Aluminium Black (ordered on Amazon.com, currently shipping)
PCB: NerD 60 Ver2.0 PCB (geekhack LeandreN GB, waiting for invoice)
Plate: Universal black carbon (geekhack LeandreN GB, waiting for invoice)
Stabilizers: 6.25u Kit (geekhack LeandreN GB, waiting for invoice)
Switches: Cherry MX Clear (not 100% sure, not yet ordered, waiting on Max Keyboard Ultimate Sampler Tester Kit, currently shipping via Massdrop)
LEDs: White (not 100% sure, not yet ordered, will likely be bought in local electronics store or local online shop if possible)
Keycaps: Tai-Hao Orange/Black or Black/Black set (Computerbase.de GB:
https://www.computerbase.de/forum/showthread.php?t=1597604, ordered in July, already in my possession)
Cable: No Idea yet, probably start with cheap basic one (then likely from
http://pexonpcs.co.uk/ once they are taking orders again (since shipping from EU (thank god!)), maybe from 1up Keyboards)
Hope to get all the parts together until Christmas! Enjoy your weekends and excuse my noob questions from time to time...
Thank you! I also appreciate comments on my build plan!
