A quick translucent keycaps question
« on: Tue, 27 December 2016, 10:57:52 »
Hello community !

So I recently ordered a Cooler Master MasterKeys Pro S RGB (ISO/European Layout) and am very interested in custom translucent keycaps. I've google'd and the only (ISO) interesting option I found is: http://www.maxkeyboard.com/max-104-105-87-88-key-cherry-mx-black-translucent-keycap-set.html

So my question (actually 2 questions) is the following:

- Are those good translucent keycaps ? Would you order from anywhere else instead ?
- Regarding the bottom row layout, do you know what size the spacebar is ? 6, 6.25 or 6.5 ? I couldn't find anything on CM website. (seems like the standard 88 keys / ISO layout)

thanks in advance!

EDIT- Found the answer to my second question, I guess it's a 6.25 as all they bottom row keys seems to be the same size.

Never purchased those translucent keycaps before, but my guess is they will be rather cheap feeling. Probably the same or possibly worse than the stock caps that will come on your CM board.

If you really want that translucent look though then go for it as I don't think there are too many options if you want translucent, as thicker heavier keycaps won't be translucent.

You may also want to check out these from Signature Plastics, aka Pimp My Keyboard (PMK). They're offered in different translucent colors and they've also got individuals available as well if you want to mix and match.

I  bought  that 104 keys set + 2 blue caps  from PMK some years ago and it is ANSI layout, he want a ISO set. The 4 (wasd) last caps and Up , Down, Left and Right Arrow caps are from old Qwerkeys/UK.

I guess you'd have to use an opaque ISO enter =/

I have no problems with usin ANSI keycaps sets, I use ANSI k - boards, we have/usin the not so good hopeless terrible ISO/Nordic layout here in Sweden, it is hopeless to find good lookin keycaps sets to that layout. That's why I use ANSI k - boards, no problems to find keycaps sets for that layout. Ok I have Jukebox SA set in both ANSI and ISO/Nordic layouts. TS ordered a  CM Masterkeys Pro S RGB in ISO/Europe layout  Also a problem is  the ISO Left Shift, it is smaller than the ANSI Left Shift. Another problem with the ISO layout is all the different language layouts: ISO/UK, ISO/German, ISO/Nordic (Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway, havin this 3 letters: Ö, Ä and Å on the keycaps) + some more.

My ANSI and ISO/Nordic Jukebox SA sets.
