I'm wondering does EKB offer repairs on the filco?

I was getting up the other day and the chair rolled back unto the back of my knees and I fell on the keyboard. I snapped the left foot of the keyboard on both of the plastic axles.

And I also damaged 10 MX blue switches. The 5 and 8, they work but if you press them in they get stuck(more so with the key cap on) and the contact plate infinitely types the numbers out until you pull the key a bit up to get it unstuck. I also damaged almost the entire top row; QWERUIOP don't work at all; only TAB, T, Y, [, ], \ work.

Other than that the entire board works. Using a Microsoft internet keyboard at the moment. Definitely an unwelcome change, lol.

Does EKB have a repair policy or something. I looked up at their site but for some reason their F.A.Q. is pretty vague on the topic, is it just tores, PFU keyboards or does it extend to filco?

I do minor electrical and switch repairs for customers. However, your board would need extensive repairs; so assuming it's repairable, then after shipping back and forth, labor, and parts you could be approaching more than half the cost of a new board. Send an e-mail to the support address if you'd like me to take a look at it and quote a repair.

Damn, that is a horrible Filco Offense!

Also, I can't set the scene of your accident in my mind. You stood up from the chair, it rolled into the back of your knees, and you collapsed? I'm trying to stand up in a way that would make a chair do that to me. Did the chair hit something and bounce back at you forcefully?

I can't either. It kinda sounds like one of those bizarre court room transcriptions in which someone is trying to make the cause of an accident ambiguous... except in this case he's not being ambiguous about it. It just sounds funny.

Never underestimate the vicious nature of inanimate objects!

The damage sounds extensive, too much for a cost-effective repair. Maybe use it for spares or a project, or sell it to someone for same purpose.

Did you buy it with a credit card? Some cards include insurance for purchases.

I'd try to take apart and rebuild some of the malfunctioning keyswitches. I'm not sure how feasible that is though since I haven't serviced Cherry's before.
