It depends on how old a Type-S is. In mid-2016, PFU started using the elongated stems from silenced RFs in the Type-S, but made them black. Prior to that, the stems were just normal black stems with silencing pads, so the feeling was more compromised.
Would a newer Type-S feel different than a HHKB with purple stems installed? Maybe. Opening a HHKB and removing the stems from the housing _could_ alter the stock feeling.. but they're probably real close.
can you link the exactly source of this change since mid 2016 of Newer TYPE-S?
this is a very big news, thanks a lot for your knowledge !
I read it a while ago on a thread but I can't seem to find it now. I did find this though:
https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=88702.0Two people seem to feel that purple sliders give you more travel than the Type-S.
I'll be honest though: I'm not sure if you necessarily want the _most_ travel from your sliders on a HHKB. I've heard quite a few times that people prefer stock sliders with Silence-X over purple sliders.
I have purple sliders on my lubed HHKB, and while it's nice, actually wasn't as quiet as my stock HHKB with Hyperspheres, and the additional key travel does add to the sound.
My preference for HHKB is actually my stock sliders with Hypherspheres and BKE-light domes.
I've yet to try BKE-lights on my purple slider'd HHKB but I plan to do that soon.
I'm also holding off on the Pro 3, which should be releasing this year.
