Looking for a new keyboard need help
« on: Thu, 04 January 2018, 20:25:47 »
Hello I am looking for a new mechanical keyboard that is TKL has RGB, silver (speed) switches, and preferable PBT keycaps. I also prefer the simplistic designs. My price range is anything $180 or under. So far I am thinking about getting either a Ducky One TKL, Cooler Master Masterkeys S, or an IKBC mf87. I also am thinking about the Ducky shine 6 golden white just because I here they are really well made and it is easier to get with speed switches, even though it isnt TKL. Anyone have a keyboard that fits my criteria and that they would recommend?

Welcome to Geekhack!

Not sure about the IKBC, but the Ducky or the CM would be fine.

Personally I would choose the Ducky (got 3 various Duckys already, all of them great keyboards).
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

The MF87 looks pretty awesome on paper with that aluminum case, but I haven't tried it myself. I did get a few of the full size Masterkeys L at work. It's a little creakier than my QFR, but it's serviceable and the pbt caps are decent.
