HHKB Keycaps - Are the Pro 1 and Pro 2 exchangable?
« on: Wed, 06 January 2010, 08:43:26 »
I remember iMav making a post about this many moons ago, but I can't find it. Are the keycaps from the original and newer revisions of the HHKB pro exchangeable?

Incidentally, I just got my Happy Hacking in today. I literally have only got it out the box, so it will take a little while before I will have my full opinion, but initally -

a) Bloody hell, this thing is small.

b) Topres are interesting. And nowhere near as rubber dome like as I was expecting.

Yes.  iMav swapped caps between two of his HHKBs.  One was a Pro (1) and the other was a Pro 2.  One of the first posts in the Keyboard Pics thread shows this.

Mhmm, was just making sure.

Do you know if they are identical in terms of shape and size too?

As far as I know, the only physical difference is the USB hub on the back of the Pro 2.  Otherwise, they are identical, IIRC.

The ibm shaman with a HHKB. This smells like a high treason for the IBM guys. Anyway welcome to the Topre league.

Hi, does any of you guys know where i could buy blank keycaps for my HHKB2 in europe? i bought my HHKB2 from geekstuff4u but when it arrived i had to pay quite a lot for import duties. If i could get them from europe i wouldn't have to pay anything but shipping.

Thanks in advance for any pointers.

While they don't carry Topre products currently, you might see if the Keyboard Company (UK) can get them for you.  Bruce from Keyboard Company is a member here, and they have a forum in the Vendor section.  If all else fails, you can order them from Elitekeyboards, but you will have to pay the import duties.  He does ship overseas, though.
