Still the same keyboard after all this time....
« on: Mon, 26 February 2018, 13:43:39 »
I thought I'd just say that I am still using this keyboard.
That thread about "What keyboard are you using now?" drives me crazy.
Of course I am using the same keyboard that I was then.
I wonder how many of us actually use the same keyboard for a longer period of time.
I know I do. How about others here?

At home, I have been using mostly the keyboard in my signature since I built it. The first run of the Phantom in 2012.

Not sure if this qualifies for it, this is my FIRST mechanical keyboard.

After about 12 keyboards later I still use this keyboard frequently.

Das Keyboard (first keyboard), along with Filco (second keyboard), and Topre Type Heaven (first topre) are still my top 3 favourite keyboards in my collection.

On my main system I'm still using a Unicomp that I bought back in 2009.  I only tend to change keyboards on my work system or secondary machine.  If it weren't for the creaky/flexible cases IMHO the Unicomp would be darned near perfect.
Boards: Unicomp Spacesaver (Buckling Spring) - IBM Model M (Buckling Spring) - Scorpius iOne M10 (Cherry MX Blue) - Logitech K840 (Romer-G) - E-3lue Cobra (replaced with NovelKeys Box Jades) - Smith Corona 6311 (Acer switches) - Matias Tactile Pro PC (Matias Click Switches) - Apple Desktop Bus Keyboard (Alps SKCM Orange)

I mean honestly, if you're only ever going to use 1 keyboard... why are you here? :))

You would think a community where people love to type, you would see a lot less of the short-hand.  :))

I'm still using my 2010 Filco Majestouch 105 (MX Blue). Other than one switch that needed switch cleaner applying, it is otherwise still working perfectly. The second one I bought at the same time for work (MX Brown), I abandoned as—in addition to several repair jobs to fix a bad key position—a load of keys went bad on it and I decided it wasn't worth battling with any more. Instead, for work I'm still using the Poker II I've been using for four years now.

Neither keyboard is perfect, or close to perfect, but I have no desire at present to replace either one. There's nothing I could replace the Poker II with that would be objectively better, and while a TKL would suit me better at home, I may as well keep using what I have while I can.

I've been using this one since I got it as a donation from a family friend in the mid 1990s with a PS/2 50z computer...

It has been either my 'main' keyboard, or my secondary board in constant use since that time.. I personally have typed tens of millions of words into it (lots of IRC!)

here it is in the year 1999ish on my secondary desk in my awesome 'hey I am a teenager I can have a giant wall of empty cans if I want' basement bedroom..

I do have other 'better' buckling springs model M boards (tossed out a ton in the 90s before I knew theyd be 'worth' anything, like most of us probably did)....  but this just happened to be the one I kept using.

No busted rivets, no mods.. just works!

(wait.. I am using the same desk all these years too.... maybe I should upgrade)
