Race3 Switch Replacement
« on: Sun, 10 June 2018, 01:38:20 »
I was wondering has anyone tried changing out the race 3's switches? I got a MX-Blues which I am not overly fond of. I liked MX blues are thought they where safe when I got the board but have now grown up to other switches. I was wondering if anyone has replaced switches on a Race 3 or maybe just any Vortex board? I also noticed the switches this board has are pretty nasty looking. They bur's on the tops of every slider like they didn't trim them properly.

I have only de soldered a few switchs but they did have thought hole LED's which were nightmare to remove. This board obviously has no led's

I have desoldered Pokers, but never a Race, though I do want to try this board.  If you were able to do a board with LED's then you should be fine.  One thing I will say is that at least on the Poker, the pads are very delicate and lift up easily.

I'm not sure of the burrs you are referring to.
KPB V60 Gateron Browns and Leopold Keycaps.  Poker 3 with Gateron Browns and Poker keycaps.  Poker 3 with Cherry MX Browns, ABS keycaps and white LED's.

Leopold FC660M- my new favorite, right out of the box.
