I just saw this a few minutes ago. I sure hope it is! Although it sketches me out that the site isn't secured/isn't https.

I ordered 2 of them a few months ago, they arrived the same week.

They are in very bad condition though. Completely grimey and full of dust, in one of them I found 13 paperclips THIRTEEN.

They come with lasered thin caps, the imprint on the back says PBT, but some of them shine, so I'm not too sure what they are.

I'd say if you want to salvage switches from go for it, if you want something to mod it might also be okay (the top case is always severely scratched because they removed the company's logo).
Anything else is a straight no.

They'll be PBT. It's by no means immune to shine. That said, some appear to be more vulnerable to it than others. These Cherry ones do it pretty badly, while I don't think I've ever seen shiny Model M caps, even on well-loved keyboards.

I just realized that they increased the prices. The PS/2 boards were 3€ before and the USB ones 5€.

I have got some very shiny ones, but they are pretty unusual.

I'd rather pay someone $30 USD for the switches rather than spend 8 and throw out the rest (including the case if it's as bad as mentioned above). The thin lasered PBT caps are awful.

One Model M that I had had an Esc key that was stripped of all texture and looked like a very well-worn ABS key. :P

In all fairness it might be just from the texture they applied. When I examined a Model M cap under the electron microscope I found that it had a disproportionally rough texture compared to the others.

I wouldn't be surprised, but that Esc cap looked genuinely worn though, you could see just the slightest evidence of texture on the fringes of the cap, a few of the function keys to its right looked somewhat unevenly worn and shiny too.  FWIW, it was a late Lexmark Model M.

Sadly, a bunch of my Model Ms have varying degrees of shine on their key caps, they look like they were well-used by their original owners.

I think the person selling these posted the stash in the 1800 thread in the media subforum.

I have a few questions for those who have bought them. Are they German? What switches are they? My browser at work doesn't translate anything :(
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

Are they German? What switches are they?

German ISO Layout with 6u space and the rest if the bottom row 1u. They are Cherry Black with a Linear Grey for the Spacebar

Is the spacebar 6u? Not 6.25u?

If the cases are all scratched, I see really no reason to buy them :-(

I just took a few quick and dirty pics (this is after a cleanup with pressured air).

Keep in mind the scratches are worse than they appear in the picture because my lighting sucks, this is also the one that came with less scratches.

http://imgur.com/a/YXL3u

Also, spacebar is definitely 6u with offcenter stem. If you want I can take a picture of the spacebar next to a 6,25u one as proof.

I wonder if the current g80-1800 has a 6.25 or a 6 spacebar?

I just got a pair of these from ebay - probably the same seller. Ordered one, received 2!

The condition is not as bad as I was expecting after this thread.  They are dirty, and the logos have been sanded off (still readable, though!).  They seem missing to be missing screws from the backplate, also. And one of them has something rattling around inside.

Plan is to do a brown or blue swap on the keys, vinyl dye the case black, and swap the keycaps (perhaps using these ones on my novatouch, though I am missing a few to UK-ify it in that case)

When I was new to keyboards I ordered ten USB 1800s from this seller, 50€ SHIPPED in DE.

They were DE and CZ made ones, some yellow and others not as yellow. This whole stash has a scratched-out logo in the top-left corner of the case, they also flood German ebay with those, trying to make a buck by selling them at 15€ or more.

I can really recommend this as a great giveaway board to get people addicted to mechanical keyboards. I sold most of the ones I got for 10€ along with my giant Tipro sale and gave the rest away to friends and family. Some had 1-2 bad switches so be prepared to fix some switches if you buy some. They seem to have all been used in a similair context and have certain keys badly worn out (enter I belive and Esc) while other keys have seen very little use.

Thanks for that. Cases are mostly disassembled and going in the dishwasher tonight; I'll be sure to test the keyboards now before I take the PCBs out. They  claim to  offer a 1-year warranty so i hope there are no bad switches...

When you say,  'fix' does that involve soldering on new switches or just de-/re-assembly of the switch mechanism? As I have to do the latter anyway to make it clicky :)

I think i might have been lucky this time. No wear to the keycaps at all on one of the boards. The other one is pretty faded.

Received this message today from the seller.

----------------

"Dear customer, thank you very much for your purchase.
I tried with DHL and UPS and other companies to find cheaper shipping costs Unfortunately without success.

Cheapest Shipping Costs I could reach with Heavy Packages, I can offer you 1 Kg to 10 KG Weight a shipping cost of 45 €.

For your order I have to take at least 35 € shipping costs. a part of goodwill I wear myself 10 €

Please pay the rest so I send you the goods. You can also buy other items in this case without shipping costs.

If you disagree with this deal, it is your right.
because I ask you to cancel your purchase on Ebay so you get your money back.

Best regards from Berlin"

----------------

What a shame. I was really looking forward to this.

I had no option to cancel my order so I messaged the seller asking them to cancel it.
