Suggestions Model M
« on: Thu, 26 July 2018, 23:05:36 »
Just found myself an old model M for terminal with 240 degree 5pin din. Currently have a teensy 2.0 on mail order for the conversion. I will most surely integrade the teensy within the keyboard and connect it view standard usb cable.

I wanna try and give it a more modern look. first idea i had was getting the case hydrodipped. To me that just felt  too easy. Then i figuered id cut and shrink the case and try and make it smaller. Now im not sure. Im out of inspiration. I saw a steampunk with typewrite mod online wich was cool. What do you guys think? ideas? pictures welcomed

240 degree connector? Really?

Cutting and gluing cases is quite tricky and fussy. I have tried it a couple of times with little success.

If you are in the US you can probably order an industrial case from Unicomp without spending an arm and a leg.

Yea. i agree with cutting the case. that will involve glueing and epoxy and putty before painting and in my experiance itll eventually crack. My next idea was using meaby plexiglass. Its usually quite easy to heat and bend to the keyboards ergonomics and then just trace from the existing case and cut. By adding leds underneath it i could make something preety decent. Well its only an idea. ;)
