Ducky Shine 3 TKL not working after soldering work
« on: Fri, 26 October 2018, 09:27:56 »
So today I started to desolder and solder different switches into my Ducky Shine 3 (Yellow Special Edition) and now when I plug it into my Windows PC it doesn't work and it comes up with the error message of windows cannot recognize this USB device (it's my first time soldering/desoldering)
Here is a picture of what my PCB looks like now :

As you can see I kind of destroy the dip switch on the left but I don't think that would affect it right?

What do the dip switches do?  I can't see any specific damage in the pic but could be in the shadow...

For a board not to be recognised usually you would have to damage the controller chip or between that chip and the USB port, which you shouldn't have done swapping switches.  If this really is a shine and you got all those LEDs out that cleanly you're not bad with your soldering gear but if there's a short on the LEDs maybe it could pull too much current - perhaps the cable is trapped under a switch? (won't be this if you're testing it out of the case)

This is what the manual says for the DIP Switches:
DIP 1: Ctrl and Caps lock swap
DIP 2: Windows key and Alt swap
DIP 3: Windows Key lockout
DIP 4: DEMO Mode

I've tried the keyboard without any LEDs at all too so I don't think there should be a short circuit.
I'm not too sure if I have damaged any chips at all but I'll try taking a closer look.

Not sure what DEMO mode is, if it disables input to show off the LEDs it might cause some confusion if the switch is damaged and flicking between two modes?

The others are just to move switches within the matrix so they definitely wouldn't affect what the computer sees.

Makes sense, but it seems like only the casing of the DIP Switch is ruined so I doubt the thing is going haywire.
