How to glue PCB to switch
« on: Tue, 05 February 2019, 14:58:33 »
Hi all,
I am building handwired keyboard and using Matias Alps switches and postage board (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=96805.0).

While postage board integrates great with cherry switches, with Alps there is no central cylinder on the back to switch which would hold it in place, solder is the only thing keeping it in place.
I am thinking this will not be enough to survive usb cable (un)plugging, so I was thinking of additionally fixating it with glue, however I am not sure which one to use. So my idea is to put a little bit of glue between the PCB and switches it goes on. Would you use hot glue, super glue, something else? Thanks!

If I were you I would build a case, and integrate a frame within the case that would hold the PCB in place.

Hey thanks, but I already have everything done (including case) so that is not an option for this iteration, but will keep it in mind for next time!
