Canyon Nightfall (CND-SKB7) 80g Black Switches?
« on: Wed, 18 December 2019, 08:38:16 »
Anyone got this keyboard?
It's the only keyboard I can afford right now and got all the features I want (palm rest, linear switches) but I'm a little concerned that 80g actuation force is too much?
I'm a woman and type whole day so is this keyboard suitable for me?
If anyone got this KB please tell me if it got internal memory module or the settings will be gone after transferring to another PC. I'm asking this because I plan to use this KB at home and work.

Mx black actuation is 60g, but this is 80g.
My fingers would be dead in 5 minutes of using.

80g is really heavy. I type all day and play sports that exercise my hands and couldn't stand typing on 80g MX Green switches quickly.  For everyday typing, 40-60g is good.

Just checked out the website & I believe they are referring to bottom out force not actuation force, so these should be very comparable to MX blacks weighting wise. They have another keyboard on their site that has Outemu Reds & they are claiming 60g for them so it's either bottom out force or they're just talking out their ass.

According the their website this switch need 80g of force for actuation I believe. BUT +/-10g :D They claimed this switches are their brand/design (Canyon black) and still if 70g is needed for actuation and 80g for bottom out... it's too heavy I guess. From what I know BLACKs in general ar near 60g which is acceptable but 70g
Please check the attachment.

P.S. And yes, they stated Outemu Reds are 60g and again +/-10g so let's say 50g for actuation and 60g for bottom out which is normal for Outemu I think.

You should modify springs lighter?

I checked the attachment & to me it is pretty nebulous what they are really referring to for actuation. I was thinking they meant the switches actuate at 1.5mm with a 80g +/-10g bottom out force, but could be wrong. Maybe send their CS an email & see if they further clarify what the weighting of those switches is?

Well I guess that answers it for sure then. Weird, they'd make such heavily weighted switches across a whole board?
