Hi all, having problem with IBM 5140 keycaps I bought for a built of mine, while I was testing out the keycaps, I encountered some problem with the clearance of keycaps on the SKCM switches that I planned on using, where it seems like some of the keycaps is preventing the switches from being fully depressed, I suspect it's because of how there is protrusion on the bottom of the bottom of the keycaps, which gives them a tighter clearance compared to other Alps caps, I'll try to illustrate this with a picture:

233630-0
233632-1

I've circled the protrusion on the IBM 5140 compared to other Alps caps (Taihao), which lacks such protrusion thus doesn't have this problem (I've tested the Taihao caps and they don't have the problem), the protrusion on the 5140 cap extend all the way to the top of the caps and this is what I suspect is causing the problem with the caps.

So does anyone else have this problem with IBM 5140 caps and what is the likely fix? I've considered filling away the protrusion to loosen the clearance a bit but considering filling is irreversible mod and would devalue what little worth the caps had, I decided to play safe and ask for help here first before proceeding.

Thx in advance :)
