Hi Everybody!

Hello Geekhack forum users!

Sigma_8 checking in for my first post on the Forum!

I've just recently started my journey into mechanical keyboarddom by picking up an about-to-be-recycled IBM Model M Terminal (From February of 1988) from my place of work. Was pretty stoked to be there at the right place at the right time to save this massive piece of fire and fury, or at least chonky and heftiness, from the scrap bin.

My current/next/possible plans for this guy/gal/whathaveyou is to find a replacement spacebar and stbailizing bar. Then do some work trying to get it to speak with modern hardware in all of the 24 command key glory. After that, an IBM PS/2 Tower case and a full modern sleeper build with this keyboard!

Alas, thanks for having me my buckling breatheren, and also those of non-buckling variety! If anyone has some information as to where I could get new-old-stock for replacement parts for the board or knows of any insightful and/or helpful tips (on this forum or elsewhere) to get it to communicate. Send them my way!

Cheers,
S8

An 88' IBM Model M Terminal !! I wish I could get my hands on one of those. Good luck in breathing new-modern day life into that MONSTER. I'll get back to you on the stock replacement parts, I know a guy that knows a guy.
