Varmilo now using custom switches?
« on: Thu, 29 August 2019, 21:13:42 »
For a while now, Varmilo keyboards have only been available with stock Cherry switches, the usual Browns/Blues/Blacks/Reds etc...

However, according to their Instagram, they are now making their custom shop keyboards available with certain enthusiast switches.

According to their statement,

We add Tiffany Blue Tealios into our keyboard customzation service, moreover, 67g Zealios is coming soon! Any other switches you guys prefer for a customised keyboard?

You must try our customization service on Varmilo website!

So they have confirmed both Tealios, and 67 g Zealios. They are almost certainly V2. They asked for suggestions, and other people are suggesting Gateron Inks, Holy Pandas, and Zilents.

I will check their custom site, in order to see if any of this is possible yet.

Apparently, they did a limited run of keyboards with Tealios switches, which sold out quickly.

I tested it using a VA108 customization just now.

It only lets me pick Tealios as a custom switch-type. The rest are standard Cherry MX. So Tealios are the only enthusiast switch available at present.

To make a reasonable custom VA108 is about $300, which is probably cheaper than a KBD8x mkii would cost with Tealios. Although that is for ABS plastic case.
