Greetings, and (Possibly rare) IBM Inquiry of Interest

Greetings everyone, long time vintage tech collector, first time poster.

I have come here after finally obtaining a Model M keyboard via means of finding a few of them in a clean out of a warehouse. Even more so interesting its an "Industrial" M variant which there were a few there. That said however after doing some research on the serial of each of them. I might have found a true curiosity and collectible in the few. Fortunately I was allowed to take one with me and I made that one mine.

The particular one I am speaking of? Its a 1388032 with a date of 17-DEC-85

The board is in seemingly fine condition with cleaning still needed. I have most of the keys with the missing of 1 key/two keycaps. The cable is also missing but won't be an issue finding a replacement online whether it be PS/2 or USB. Its a VERY heavy board, heavier than I normally handle in most boards of the type. But it feels solid and the keys still are loud and tactile as ever.

Aside from the missing key/cap issue I am also missing the iconic black IBM badge on the top corner. I would very much like to find one, or perhaps a repro of some kind. It would be near the top of my list of things I would need to complete this board but I am not having the best of luck uncovering one.

I plan on keeping this board for myself, and plan to use it with one of my vintage machines most likely. Once things are cleaned up and perfected that is.

Anyone here have any advice or information on what I need to look for?

Thank you all for your time, and hope to hear some ideas!

-M

Welcome :)

Nice find, I don't know much about those boards but do know the gray ones are rarer
