Hi all; I've been toying with the idea of finally building myself a metal-case keyboard (vs. PCB-plated split keyboards... good for the hands, but not always that satisfying to use).
I do have a Tada68 in the high-profile case, but the stabs are terrible. I could replace them but I doubt the PCB's pads will take another desoldering round.
Ideally, I'd keep the case and get another PCB, but the options are limited: the DZ65RGB doesn't support the split backspace, and the KBD67 rev2 doesn't appear to fit the Tada68 case. Or at the very least, information on that compatibility is unavailable... (that PCB is offered with the Tofu65 case only, though kits). I'd prefer no 'gap' in the keymap (this seems like a very popular type of layout, with 2 x mods and a gap to the left of the arrow cluster; I prefer the all 1u keys layout).
If there's no other options, I'll just get a Tofu65 case with the KBD67 rev2 PCB. But I was hoping I could reuse the Tada's case!
I also don't mind splurging more for a top or gasket-mount kit, actually, since it'd be for home use where I do less typing. I'm am entirely unfamiliar with the world of custom keyboards (besides handbuilt, split kits), so any tips here would be fantastic! I'd say $300 is my budget. I have keycaps and switches aplenty already.
What other QMK-compatible options do I have here? Thanks for any tips!
