free alps switch parts
« on: Mon, 05 April 2010, 10:01:24 »
looks like marketplace bot is broken again.

Spring cleaning continues at the Wellington household. I've got 4 bags of assorted alps switches and switch parts (sliders, springs, click leafs, housing). These include about [strike]two dozen[/strike] 68 dampened sliders (see pic).

Does anyone mod alps switches anymore? Just pay shipping and they're yours. I'll post more pics/deets if anyone is interested. PM me.

I'm chucking them in a week if no one wants them...

marketplace linky.

If there are 26 or more dampened alps, I'd be interested in those.

inventory of the alps parts:

The parts appear to be from two different boards:

-a siig mactouch (bigfoots, clicky). 69 intact switches (see pics)
-an aek II (dampened sliders, non clicky leaf, bigfoots) with 68 switches. Of those 68, 46 housings have been taken apart (but nearly all components are there: springs, leafs, top housing, sliders, but no bottom) + 22 still intact (including bottom).

IIRC, these were from a project where I was building a frankenstein alps switch with fukkas, click leafs, and dampened sliders (fukka feel, but with no bottoming clack, but with a click from the leaf -- yea, that was a great switch).

siig mactouch - looks like regular bigfoots. Most of these are intact, i took one apart to show the insides.

aekII - bigfoot style with dampened sliders and clickless leaf:
22 of them are complete and intact aekII switches as pictured here:

46 aekII housings taken apart (dampened sliders included along with all parts except the bottoms):

If you're looking for dampened sliders, there will be a total of 68 of them.

I've never used Fukkas or Dampened ALPS, but I just scored a SGI Granite with dampened ALPS that should be here soon... I hope.

I have AT101W's that I got with the intention of modding.  But Kishy, if you want them, go for it.

update: free shipping (including canada).

They only weigh 10 oz, not worth paypalling over.  The universe can owe me some karmic points and we'll call it even.

Didjamatic, wanna go to negotiations in PMs about who gets what? I'm interested in complete switches, mainly, and definitely want some dampened ones. Not sure on quantities so yeah.

I'm thinking of just taking the lot, taking out what I want/need, and then redistributing the rest the same way welly is.

(currently at school/work so my replies aren't as quick as usual)

Go ahead kishy.  If you back out, then see if InSanCen wants them, he hooked me up with some Alps switches a couple months ago when I destroyed one in a keyboard I had.

Well if insancen was looking for them before this was posted, he gets first priority I think.

If I were more greedy these complications could be avoided...lol.

The loot has arrived today. However with exam-type tests in the next couple days, I'm trying to keep my mind on focus (yeah, right...) so I'll figure out what I want and what to redistribute sometime soon.

Thanks welly!

Digging this back up because I finally got around to it...

Long story short, I don't have any uses for the items that I thought I did. I like my keyboards loud and obnoxious...dampened this, rubber that is not obnoxious enough.

The inventory has not changed since Welly had it (except I'm keeping the grey-stem locking switch). Take what you want, but I do ask that you pay shipping from me to you.

A note: the MacTouch switches aren't as clicky as other white clickies. Perhaps a slider or leaf swap that welly forgot he did?

Since electrical prongs are snipped short these are best used for sliders, springs, etc...use as a full switch would be tricky.

Technically giving away but there's actually, like that Leading Edge keyboard, a bit of a queue of interested people.

insancen - didjamatic - trojanmaximus (by pm), then it's a free for all...

I'll post status in this thread.
