Camping and Overlanding Thread
« on: Mon, 06 January 2020, 12:05:11 »
Good morning all!

I am hoping this takes off a bit. Wanted to make a thread about all things camping and overlanding. Whether it's vehicle related or simply asking about camping gear - all are welcome. Feel free to share your favorite equipment or setup. My wife and I go camping quite a bit and have put many miles on the road.

I look forward to hearing from everyone! For now, this is our current setup:

2016 Tacoma 4x4 - Quicksand
265/75/16 Falken Wildpeaks
TRD Pro Grille
Shiftsense Pro V2 - Shift controller
OEM Tonneau Cover
KBVooDoo Max Modular Bed Rack
Tepui Ruggedized Tent
32" Hidden LED Bar - Behind bumper

(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

I used to go all the time in Colorado, back when I actually had friends. Some of the best memories were from camping trips with friends.

Usually for the weekend, so everyone would just get the cheapest 1-2 person tent from Walmart for around $40
No mats or sleeping bags, just a blanket on the bare tent floor
Firepit is free, just find stones
An ax for chopping wood
A pan for cooking everything
Flashlights
Booze... lots of booze
Weed... lots of weed
Guns... lots of guns

It was a super cheap way to spend a fun weekend, and usually the tents were so beat up after one use you just throw them away afterwards. Good times.
