NK Cream Switches not Selling out Instantly for Once
« on: Tue, 07 April 2020, 19:54:55 »
If you didn't know, Novelkeys recently (today) restocked their NK cream supply, and they didn't sell out instantly for once. For past drops, they would usually sell out in 5-10 mins and that would be it, but currently (8 hours later than the restock) they are still available. Anyone have any opinions as to why?

My thinking is that they possibly have lost their hype due to Tfue or possibly the last batch wasn't as great as previous releases? Like holy pandas, they have dropped in order requests due to inconsistent lubing, but as someone who lubes switches manually, I don't care for this assessment. Anyways, leave your comments below, and if you are looking to buy some creams, go head to Novelkey's website ASAP!

Alpacas and derivatives are 'skating smooth' for .10 cents cheaper per-switch.

Tangerines V2 are often thought to be the best out-of-box switches.

So Creams can be lost in all that noise. The competition among linears is very, very tough right now.

UPDATE: I've been reading that both Alpaca switches and Tangerines sold out within minutes in the past week or so.

Oh interesting, where have you seen them restock from? like on what website? and yes I agree that tangerines v2 are prob the best linears but I wonder how they would go up against manually lubed creams. I would compare tangerines to holy pandas but they are two different switch types so there can't be much competition there.

Alpacas are sold from PrimeKB:

https://www.primekb.com/collections/frontpage/products/alpaca-linears?variant=31565132857440

You can sign up for restock notices by e-mail. U.S. shipping only, due to COVID-19.

You can also get the Mauves and Lilacs (65 gr Alpacas) from Project Keyboard:

https://store.projectkeyboard.com/products/mauve-switches-10-pack

https://store.projectkeyboard.com/collections/switches/products/lilac-switches-10-pack

They are also of course sold out, but you can sign up for their newsletter.

Then, there's the Tangerines. The Key Dot Co seems to be the distributor for America. You can see their page here:

https://thekey.company/collections/upcoming-releases/products/c3-tangerine-switches-r2

They recommend subscribing to their newsletter to receive updates about when the Tangerine V2s arrive.

Although I suspect that by the time you read that e-mail, it may already be too late. Things are in hypermotion when it comes to the latest linears.

The link to the tangerines are the original ones right? Not rev2's? Is there any real aftermarket for the rev 2's cause that's what I am looking to try. Maybe here on classifieds or r/mechmarket? Also would signing up for the newsletter let me know when the v2's arrive?

The link to the tangerines are the v2s. You will most likely be able to find tangerines on r/mechmarket, but you'll also be paying a lot more than retail price. The newsletter will let you know when the v2s restock.

For both of the switches, I'd highly recommend you to film them in addition to lubing them, JWK manufactured switches benefit hugely from switch films; it takes their sound from meh to a nice thock.

Probably because all the tfue fans already got their creams, and most other people are going for the other, better alternatives, like inks, alpacas and tangerines. Creams aren't really scratchy--but they have a bit of "stick-slip" in the travel, even after lubing with 205g0 (maybe I need to break them in some more)--but they're definitely not as smooth as tangerines.
