New user on modded switches, cool idea for smooth linears
« on: Wed, 06 May 2020, 01:55:03 »
I've been using gateron optical browns on a Gk61 60% keyboard, and recently I decided to try removing the metal leaf that causes the bump. I ended up with a linear switch that is very smooth with lube, and although i haven't yet tried reds i would imagine this is smoother because it has no metal contact.

Also, does anyone have ideas for reducing stab sound other than the usual bandaid mod and grease?
gk61 with gateron optical browns modded to be linear. Will spend hours on budget keyboard mods, too broke to afford a ducky.

Hi kadvidim. Welcome to Geekhack.

Nice one. I need to try some of those optical switches myself. I do believe that people have done similar modifications to other switches in the past, not sure about Gateron tactiles though. You might want to post about it in more detail in the Making Stuff Together section.

I'm a clicky guy, so I like as much noise as I can get. That might be another good thing for the Making Stuff Together or Keyboards sections.
