My 1st keyboard - thoughts welcome!
« on: Thu, 06 August 2020, 15:06:34 »
Hello everyone!

After lurking here from quite some time, and inspired by many of you, I´ve decided to make my own custom keyboard.

I'd like to hear some opinions because I think I've got all the pieces together, but maybe I'm missing something (sorry I don't have anyone else to ask this stuff, and being new to this world there are many things that I still dont understand)

I have picked the parts that I like the most, and they're as follow

Case and PCB: Melody96 v1 light blue by YMDK
Switches: Purple Zealios v2 (62gr) (for this I´ll have film and springs)
Caps: They'll take a bit to come, but it´ll carry the Musubi set you can find here in geekhack.

If you find something terrible wrong please let me know before it's too late :D I don't know if I messed up somewhere or I'm missing something!

Thanks in advance!
Teclis

Hello!

Congratulations on planning out your first build. I have a Melody96 myself, the one with the acrylic base, and it’s a lovely keyboard. I actually initially put Zealios on it myself, but didn’t take to them.

I’m sure you know, but you’ll need enough stabilisers for a full-size board :)

Other than that, you can’t really go wrong with any combination of keyboard and switch so long as they’re MX compatible.
