Hello Geekhack!
« on: Fri, 21 August 2020, 22:33:22 »
Hi everyone, I typically go by my online handle (Kemetic), but feel free to call me DB! Born and raised in Canada, so you know I'm no stranger to maple syrup, bacon and import fees  ;D

I've been interested in keyboards for the last 10 or so years, but wasn't able to pursue the hobby beyond 'the basics' due to financial circumstances. The passion seemed to dwindle the last couple years. 2 months ago I fractured my foot, and being a very active person who loves to be outside hiking, biking, fishing, camping, etc. - this has been a MAJOR bummer/setback for my lifestyle.

With nothing to do but sit around the house and endlessly scroll through forums, videos, etc., the hobby found me again when I needed it most. I've been using this rekindling of passion for keyboards as a way to keep my mind busy and keep a shred of my sanity while I'm forced to be (mostly) on bed rest.

Keyboards.... sanity... in the same sentence? Who am I!? :-X

I've spent the last few years making and selling themed PC's and console controllers as a side-hustle/hobby, so naturally I figured keyboards would be the PERFECT hole to throw my money into.

I've been lurking the boards on and off for a while and after pulling the trigger on the KAT cyberspace GB, I decided I'd make an account here and try to frequent the seemingly endless fountain of knowledge and comradery that is geekhack.

I'm also working on (possibly) trying to bring a GB keycap set to reality, and will hopefully be posting an [IC] some time in the coming months. Anybody who has experience with this who is friendly enough to share some tips/tricks-of-the-trade with me would be greatly appreciated as this part of keebs is completely foreign to me. I believe I have a good vision and would love to work with somebody(s) on this project who has the know how to make this happen. I'm heavily interested in putting proceeds towards charities, so if anybody has, or knows someone who has, experience with setting this up I'd really love to get in touch at some point.

Thanks for having me here and I really look forward to making some friends in this community - cheers!
