Triumph Adler Alphatronic P-10 Keyboard
« on: Thu, 20 August 2020, 13:28:51 »
Hi everyone!

I received a very interesting board today from a Triumph Adler Alphatronic P-10 workstation.
249954-0249960-1

It has Cherry MX Blacks/Greys and the keycaps are OG Cherry doubleshots. The F and J keys don't have any bumps or scoops for homing. The case and keycaps have yellowed alot with age it seems.
249962-2249964-3249966-4

There is a strange wrist rest (which is a bit damaged) that can be attached to the case with pins.
249956-5249958-6

Also the keycaps on the lower row have the infamous Cherry R5 profile, which is just a bit higher and more sculpted than the typical bottom row keycap and the blue caps on the topmost row are R0 profile.
Here's a little height comparison of a R0 keycap next so SA R3 and SA R1.
249968-7

I can't find anything on this board online, except this thread on GH: https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=64618.0

Has anyone ever seen something like it before?

What a beauty!  Triumph Adler boards are far from common so not surprised no-one has offered any details.

Are you trying to make it work on a modern computer or just looking for info before putting it safely in storage?

I'll try to tinker around with a Teensy to maybe get it to work through USB. But I still need to find out what the connector type to the keyboard controller is as I don't want to solder anything to that port to keep the cable etc. stock. It's similar to a 5 PIN JST, but not quite as thick. Maybe they don't even sell these anymore these days so I'll have to find a workaround. Mainly doing this for fun, the layout is alot to get used to. I'll keep it as something like a showpiece in my room.
I have already gone a head and retrobrighted the case and keycaps as much as I could with the recent sun here and it turned out absolutely beautiful.

Very nice, would be great to get it working.

Can you post a pic of the connector and some measurements?  Someone might recognise it, or I might get bored and join the search (95% likely given a 5 day weekend)

I'ts 4mm in thickness and 15mm wide. If I look for "6 pin AMP connector" I don't find anything similar. Notice the three pins that are used for the connector to latch on.

Ok I found it myself. It's an AMP 925369-6. Will try to get my hands on it.

Edit: I've ordered everything I need for the job. Let's hope this goes well. ^^

I am writing this from the TA P10 keyboard!

Honestly didn't think that Soarers Teensy converter was so easy to configure. Remapping the keys was by far the most tedious part.
Was a fun project, and I pretty much left the original keyboard as is, just swap out the cable to the original one and that's it.

It's not going to be my daily driver of course, the layout is alot to get used to, but it's a very pretty board and having the option to type some words on it is definetely a plus.

Damn, very nice find OP, glad to hear you got it working! Always nice to repurpose vintage boards over harvesting them!
